Pottery Barn Knock-off Window Shades

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these window shades in my Pottery Barn catalog:

French Stripe Cordless Roman Shade

They look veeeeery familiar:

These are my kitchen shades that I made here out of $15 JC Penney roman shades and a $10 Walmart shower curtain!!

So, let's see.......

The PB version is $219!
Mine was $25!

Reminds me of my Pottery Barn knock-off Bulletin Board;)

Play Room Inspiration

I still have a few things left to do in the laundry room, but ofcourse i'm already thinking of my next project; the toy room. The toy room has gone through MANY changes in the 7 years we have been in this house.
It started as the "Yankee room". ie the room that I allowed my husband to hang all of his sports things in! It was a dark navy blue color and had a black desk and shelves in it.
Then it became a guest room/office.
Then it became a play room.
Then it became an "art room". I had paint brushes and paint handy for the girls, as well as an art table and chairs for them to create their masterpieces. This is where things got really messy and the carpet became destroyed (imagine blobs of paint ALL. over. the. carpet!)
Then it went back to a play room.
Now I want to make it a den/study space.
Here is my inspiration:

I want to incorporate this PBT rug (the carpet is SO bad that it needs to be covered and eventually ripped out!!):

I love this bean bag chair, without the pink lettering:

Ofcourse, we need more shelving:

EXPEDIT Shelving unit IKEA Can be hung on the wall or placed on the floor.

I'm thinking of this to put a nice TV on. That way all of their Wii things can be kept in here too:

LACK Coffee table IKEA Separate shelf for storing magazines, etc. Keeps your things organized and the table top clear.

LACK Side table IKEA The high-gloss surfaces reflect light and give a vibrant look. Easy to assemble. Low weight; easy to move.

Geez, i'm tired already!!

Laundry Room Progress - Part 2

I've been working on my laundry room the past few weeks and I am finally making some progress. Here is my post from a couple of weeks ago showing the B&B that I installed.

This week I added artwork to the big empty wall space above my cabinets. I was going to put up some shelving, but everything fits really well in the cabinets and I decided I didn't want to put up shelves just to fill up with crap useless knick knacks!!

I saw this pin on Pinterest..... yes, Pinterest again!

I loved the letters and decided to take it one step further....... HUGE letters!!

I bought these at JoAnn:

Added a little spray paint:

And put them up:

They reminded me of these letters from Restoration Hardware:
Um, they sell for $69 a piece!! (mine were $9, plus I had a 20% off coupon)

I have a few more things to do, but i'm in the home stretch now!!

Laundry Room Progress

Awile ago I posted about my laundry room here.

I have finally started to work on it and am allllllllmost done!

Here is what it looked like when I started....... i'm SO embarassed :-0

I found this picture on Pinterest as my inspiration:

I've done board & batten before (here), so I just used the same technique, except with wider boards. Here it is in my hallway:

Here is the process in my laundry room:
(This is a SMALL room and taking pictures is really difficult. I can't even get the whole wall in 1 shot)

(I know the center picture is hanging too low but that is where the home security box is and I wanted to cover it. I wish they would have placed it higher)
I also stacked the washer and dryer to have better storage.

The cabinet is an old kitchen cabinet that I found at the Habitat for Humanity. It still needs a top; for now I just have an old piece of wood laying ontop.

I still have a few things to do:

1. Wall art for the empty wall above the cabinet
2. Paint the laundry room door
3. Buy a rug
