Master Bedroom Updates

I have made a few changes to the master bedroom. The first thing I wanted to do was replace the side tables with something a little more "nightstand-ish". That means something with drawers and a little more room ontop!

Here is what it looked like before:

(sorry about the narrow picture! You can kind of see the side tables though.)

When looking for nightstands, I wanted something inexpensive so I went to IKEA. I saw the IKEA RAST chest of drawers:

RAST 3 drawer chest, pine Width: 24 3/8 " Depth: 11 3/4 " Height: 27 1/2 " Width: 62 cm Depth: 30 cm Height: 70 cm

It may not look like much, but they are $35 and can be painted and "hacked" like i've seen all over the internet. Here are a few examples:

Here is mine ~ I went simple and white with new pulls:

I added some white shams and a new colorful lumbar pillow and replaced the 3 prints above the bed with a great round mirror:

I still need to buy another table for the other side of the bed and replace my horrible drapes (ick!!)

Curbside Shopping

I've never actually done this before..... but while driving home one day a couple of weeks ago, I spotted a table in someone's trash. It was at the curb and I just had to rescue it!

It was very heavy and in perfect condition except that it was missing the top, it was filthy, it was covered in dog hair and it was an ugly wood tone:

The first thing I did was wipe it down. Ick!

Then I sprayed it with some primer and gave it a coat of grey paint that I already had:

For the top, I wanted something soft to put our feet up on. So I got a piece of wood cut to size at Home Depot - it was actually cheeper for me to get 2 narrow pieces and attach them to eachother:

Then I just wrapped it with 3 layers of batting and my (Gorgeous!!) fabric and stapled it all to the underside.

The top was easy to attach because the screws from the old top were still screwed in!

Total cost for my road kill rescue:

Table base ~ free
Wood ~ $25
Primer and Paint ~ already had
Fabric ~ $15

Refrigerator Frames

So, I saw this magnetic roll at Lowe's and bought it without really knowing what I would do with it. Then while standing in my kitchen I had an idea......

I have always hated a bunch of "stuff" on the fridge. but I can't really help it. The girls have these word magnets they like to play with and I do like to put pictures on there sometimes; I just hate how messy it can look:

(I know it doesn't look THAT bad, but I had already taken lots of paperwork down and put it all on my cork board that I made here)

How can I make it look a little more neat?

Is it completely crazy that this makes me feel better??

Roomspiration Link Party

The next stop on the Roomspiration Link Party is over at Homemaker on a Dime.

Today is all about bathrooms. I have 2 bathrooms in my house but am going to share my daughters/guest bathroom. The master bathroom is fine but blah. I have lots I want to do to it....... But, onto the "completed" bathroom in the house:

It has gone through several stages as documented in this post, this post and this post - LOL!!

Here is a quick before and after:
