I did it again......

I can't seem to get the guest bathroom right. It is the girls' bathroom but also has to serve as the bathroom for guests..... So I want it to be cute but not "too cute". I made a big change to it awhile ago and have been tweeking it ever since. Here was the first make-over as detailed in this post:

I lived with it for awhile but the pink touches started to bother me. I am developing a severe aversion to pink..... probably because the girls bedrooms are covered in it.

I removed the pink towels and added a vinyl birdhouse to the wall:

I liked it!!
But....... the vinyl never really "stuck" to my textured wall and kept peeling in spots. This slowly drove me crazy and I finally took it down.

Long story short (too late!), here it is now:

I think I love it:):):)

Mia's Chandy

I finally finished Mia's chandy!

I picked it up at the Habitat for Humanity for $15 and it originally looked like this:

After a coat of spray paint, it looked like this:

The next step was to remove the boring light that was hanging in her room:

(I had dressed it up with a butterfly mobile as seen in this post)

Then came the fun part - not!
After installing the new light and blowing out the fuse box twice I had to call my dad and beg him to come install it for me because the house was going to burn down take it down and install it again properly.

I wanted to add a little "bling", so I picked up a pack of jeweled garland from the party store. It comes in a package like this:

Then I just wrapped it around the light and it looks so pretty! I still may add some more of the jewels, not sure yet:

All I have left to do is make a cord cover for it, add art to her big empty wall and she wants a canopy over her bed....... we'll see. It may look too "busy", but how I would have loved a canopy when I was little!!! So i'll probably give in.

Project A.D.D.

I have project A.D.D. right now!

I can't concentrate on one thing and I have several projects going at the same time. The first is the "play room" and the second is my daughter Mia's room.

The play room looks like this:

(that is a chalk board wall on the bottom half of this wall)

(on a side note..... look at what was written on the chalk board wall!!)

So far i've brought in a desk, changed out the window treatment, created some art storage and gotten rid of a lot of pink!

As far as Mia's room; it doesn't need much work. I am working on a new light fixture, a new window valance and some art for the wall. Here is the new light that I picked up at the Habitat for Humanuty for $15!!

A can of this and some new shades and she'll be gorgeous!!

I'll post more soon:)

Shaklee is the Bomb

So I shared my Shaklee love with the awesome girl who I buy my Shaklee from - Bonnie - and she posted about it on her blog House of Grace.

It's an honor to be mentioned on her blog as she is a blogging genius and one of my absolute FAVORITES!!

Thanks Bonnie:)

I really LOVE my SHAKLEE cleaning products! I get them from Bonnie over at House of Grace.

I use the Basic H and the Scour-Off Paste.

They are both amazing but I had to show off my latest use for the paste.

I use this to clean my stove top, the inside of my microwave and anything that needs a good scrubbing!

So I was cleaning up the play room and noticed that some of our dolls were in need of a makeover!

The dolls had white stains all over their heads....

(You can see the stains better on this brighter photo)

After scrubbing with the SHAKLEE Scour Off Paste......

She's as good as new!!

Mia's Vanity

Mia has a great closet with lots of storage for clothes and shoes. For this reason, I don't feel she needs a dresser in her room. So, I decided she would have a vanity instead. I found a great one on Craigslist and it was in good shape but had been spraypainted off-white and I wanted crisp white. I bought some of this - how hard could it be to strip down a piece of furniture and repaint it?!?!?:

HAHAHAHA, very hard!!

Unfortunately, I don't have a good before picture of the piece, but here is what the top looked like when I started stripping and having a mild nervous breakdown:

Thankfully I only applied the "solution" to the top of the piece. After an afternoon of applying it and scrapping off paint, I was left with this *#@!&:

Maybe i'll just prime over the rest of it and paint the whole thing white without anymore stripping.
OK, that's the plan.

So, here she is after some spray-on primer:

And several coats of white paint:

The paint chipped off of the drawer pulls and I just left it that way. It looks fine like that and I may or may not buy new ones or spray paint these again with the right kind of paint so it doesn't chip. I haven't decided yet:

It looks nice with her new chair and jewelry tray!
