I don't typically decorate for every season, but I wanted to add some summer color to the family room ~

I found these cloth napkins at TARGET and fell in love with them. They came in a set of 4 so I made a {no-sew} pillow case out of 2 of them......

( it's amazing what 2 napkins and some fabric glue will do!)

And used the other 2 to recover the cushions on the girls' chairs:

It adds the perfect pop of color for the summer and it only cost $10 for the pack of 4 cloth napkins!

I also bought some vinyl numbers and added them to inexpensive jars in the kitchen~

(Yikes, I need to buy some coffee!!)

It's a start:)

I'm bored

"Mommy i'm bored........."

I hear that a lot!
Sometimes we have to be a little creative. So, I decided that our American Girls could use an outdoor swing!
1 piece of rope and an old inner tube:

And we have a new toy!
(A new FREE toy ~ :)

Except now I hear, "Mommy, her doll has been on it longer than mine!"

A Day on the Farm

My parents live on a small farm and the girls always have so much fun there.

They are so comfortable with the animals!

Grouping Pictures

I love decorating with pictures of my family and things that I love.... like my kids' art work. I also like picture "groupings".

Sometimes I use all different frames and mix color with black and white photos:

Sometimes I stick to one color and style of frame:

Sometimes I stick to a "theme". Like by my front door I have a group of black and white old family photos. They include pictures of my grandparents at their wedding and honeymoon and pictures of my mom as a little girl:

And sometimes I just group things together that I like; like old post cards, and words or expressions that i've printed on the computer:

Father's Day

We had a great father's day!

The girls decorated with a huge banner they made for the world's best dad:

Opened gifts:

Then we went out for breakfast (part of his gift was that I would NOT cook!):

Followed by a little walk in the park:

Just wanted to share one of the Father's Day gifts we made last year. It came out great & I just love it!

New Bed

We got a new mattress last week and when we did, the headdboard that I made last year no longer worked. Our new mattress is much lower to the ground and the headboard was not low enough. Since it was attached to the wall, it had to be taken down and completely redone. Here it is before:

To make the new headboard I did the same thing I did last time.
I took the old one off the wall:

I laid my quilting material (cut to size) and my fabric ontop:

Then nailed them both to the wall:

I trimmed it all out with moulding:

And touched it all up with white paint:

I love it; BUT if I had it to do over again..... I would NOT use a stripped fabric. I don't know what I was thinking! The stripes are not perfectly straight and it will slowly drive me crazy:) But, hopefully no one else will really notice.
