Tiered Tray

I went to my local Habitat for Humanity this week and spotted this beauty:

I knew just what I wanted to do with it. It was very sturdy and only $5. I sprayed it white and put it on Mia's vanity for all of her jewelry. I love how it turned out!

Window Shopping Wednesday

June 21st is the official first day of summer, but i'm already feeling the need to lighten things up. I'd love to add more white around the house......

iPhone Apps

I love my iPhone!
I have only had her for about 3 weeks, but I cannot imagine life without her.......

I especially love finding great Apps.
If you have an iPhone, you MUST download an app called "Instagram". It lets you take photos and then add beautiful effects to them. Like this:

Or this:

Best of all, the app is free!!

Close Call with the Tooth Fairy

Olivia lost her 3rd tooth on April 14th; but by bedtime that night, the tooth was nowhere to be found. We weren't sure the toothfairy would still come if there was no tooth under the pillow.....?
So, I assured Olivia that the toothfairy is very kind and maybe if we wrote her a note, she would understand:

Luckily, the note worked. The toothfairy left an electric toothbrush and $5.

Thanks toothfairy!!

Easter Egg Tree

One of my favorite Easter traditions was always making an Easter egg tree with my grandmother. Now, I make them with my girls!

First we got some sticks from our front yard and spray painted them white. While they dried, we painted our eggs. I poke 2 holes in the eggs; 1 pretty big hole and one smaller one (on either end), and then let the yolk ooze out. This leaves me with just the shells:

Then I set out the dye and let the girls do their thing and dye all of the eggs:

Once the sticks were dry, we put them in a glass container with some rocks to keep them in place:

After the eggs were dry, I took twine and hot glued it to the eggs so that we could hang them from the branches!

So cute!
Nana Dora would love it!

Thrifted Chandy

One of the projects i've wanted to tackle, is new lighting for both Mia and Olivia's room. While looking around my new favorite place ever, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, I saw this:

She had a great shape, was the perfect size and I knew she was exactly what I wanted....... and she was $12!!

I cleaned her off and gave her 2 coats of a glossy white spray paint:

I wasn't sure if it was safe to paint the cord, so I left that alone and decided to cover it with a fabric cord cover. I have bought those covers before and they look pretty simple; why not make my own and save the money?

I took fabric I already had and folded it in half long-ways. Then I glued all the way down and turned it inside out creating a "tube":

I hung the whole thing up and it (thankfully) worked!

Add some cute lamp shades from Ebay and it's all done:

Chandy ~ $12
Shades ~ $20
Spray paint ~ $4
Fabric ~ free
Total cost: $36
