Mia's tooth

Mia lost her very first tooth Wednesday October 6, 2010. It had been loose for awhile and she finally asked her favorite teacher to pull it out. After several attempts, she finally got it out. Mia came home with the tooth in a box and was very excited about it. Olivia was grossed out and was mainly concerned that she would no longer be the older sister since Mia lost a tooth first. Olivia kept saying "i'm still the big sister right??"

Later that night Mia put a poem on the box that I found online for the tooth fairy:

Dear Toothfairy……..
In this pocket you will find
A teensy, tiny tooth of mine.
So while I sleep where dreams are made,
Let’s see if you can make a trade.
Love, Mia

After she fell asleep, I snuck in and put her gift from the toothfairy under her pillow. I took $5 and put it in an envelope. Then I put on bright red lipstick and "kissed" the envelope leaving big red lips on it. When Mia woke up the next morning she brought the envelope into my room and said "Mommy, I think the toothfairy borrowed one of your envelopes"...... she is getting too smart. I hope I didn't ruin it for her. I told her that the toothfairy wanted to leave her a kiss and must have looked around for something and taken an envelope from the closet. She seemed to buy it. Rich thinks $5 is way too much money for a tooth but it was fun. She plans on spending her $5 on Skittles candy.

Date with Mommy and Daddy

Having twins is so much fun..... it is amazing to watch them grow up and witness their bond. They have always had eachother to play with and are the best of friends.

I have always tried to make everything "equal". The same number of Christmas gifts, the same amout of foon on their plate, the same number of ice cubes in their cups (seriously!), etc. As they get older, though, it is a bit more difficult to make sure they both feel the same amount of attention and love. We have always talked about spending "alone" time with each of the girls so they could bond with us as parents one-on-one and also to create independence from eachother and be ok with not doing every single thing together. We have always said that, but have NEVER done it! So...... we decided it was time.

I took Olivia to the zoo (her choice) while Rich took Mia to the movies (her choice). We had such a great time doing this and the girls have been talking about how much fun they had on their special "dates" non-stop. We are going to switch and do it again soon! Here are some pictures of me and Peanut at the zoo ~

Halloween wreaths

I made 2 Halloween wreaths for my front doors and didn't want to spend a ton of money since I change the wreaths out for just about every holiday! I used 2 basic wreaths from Michael's and attached some creepy signs from TARGET's dollar spot, some black ribbon and some spiders from the dollar store...... easy peasy!

Next to the front door I filled my urn with some white pumpkins and spanish moss. Spanish moss is my new favorite Halloween accessory and I have a ton of it hanging from a tree in my back yard....... i've always cursed that tree, but now I love it! Ha!

I added a black crow from the Dollar Tree for added creepiness and lightly spray painted the urn with some black spray paint to make it look "worn" and old.

I think i'm done - simple and easy!

Bringing out the Pumpkins & Crows

I have never been much of a Halloween decorator but I LOVE Fall!! For some reason this year has been different....... I find myself loving Halloween decorations and putting pumpkins and crows on anything that will stand still. My newest love is also the Dollar Tree. I love that they sell some pretty cute Halloween stuff that can be "tweaked" into looking more pricey AND that everything in there is actually a dollar!!!! Love! Just some pictures from around the house.......

Lanterns filled with pumpkins on the kitchen table

Huge lantern on the floor - filled with spanish moss and a pumpkin

I don't have a mantle, so I decorated the ledge that hangs above the TV with some pumpkins, a Trick or Treat sign and a skull print

Some apothecary jars filled with Dollar Tree stuff - just the usual skeletons, rats and pumpkins!

Kitchen window - Martha Stewart banner and a black wreath made by me

Some more pumpkins placed by the front door...... I may paint those white

Mirror in the entryway

Family photo wall in front entry....... complete with 2 crows, pumpkins, another skull and "BOO" letters painted silver by me.

Butterfly Chandy

Awhile ago i spotted this butterfly chandy on pottery barn kids website and thought it looked like it was just made of paper and some kind of wire....I could (maybe) make one myself! It would be cute for my daughter's "butterfly bedroom".

Supplies needed:

1. Ribbon

2. Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch

3. Hot glue gun

4. White Paper

5. Embroidery hoop:

6. Hooks

All I really did was punch out a ton of butterfly shapes out of heavy white paper and hot glue them to randomly cut strips of ribbon. Then I hot glued the ribbons to the ring and suspended the whole thing from the hooks in the ceiling:

I think it looks pretty good!! I only spent about $10...... not too bad!!
