Countdown to Christmas

My daughter was home sick from school today and I stayed home with her. By lunchtime, she was feeling a little better and we decided to do a craft.
I couldn't take her out to a store so I had to use whatever I had around the house. Here are the supplies I had:

a piece of foam board -

some old cards and scraps of paper -

Various stamps -

A box full of fabric - (I chose this one because it was the only thing that looked "christmas-y")

After looking at everything, we decided to make a countdown to Christmas.

First we wrapped the board with the fabric using a staple gun and masking tape:

Next we hot glued small clothes pins in rows down the board:
(I forgot to take a picture of that step)

Then we used our stamps to stamp out numbers 1 - 25 on the backs of the old cards and clip them to the clothes pins:

We used a snowflake tree ornament to "mark" our day..... we hung it on the "25" and will move it one place everyday until we reach Christmas!

Christmas around the house

I started bringing out Christmas decorations and putting them out this week. Nothing special, but here are a few pictures from around the house:

Family room photo ledge ~

Hallway niche ~

Kitchen window ~

Open shelf above the fridge ~

Tiny Christmas trees in cute pots on the kitchen table ~

Glass jars filled with balls on the counter ~

Niche by the front door ~

Another family photo ledge (these are all pictures of my grandparents and great grandparents when they were young...... I love these!) ~ Also, it's hard to see, but the 2 small gold frames are my twins footprints from their first Christmas when they were a week old.

Tomorrow we will do the outside!

PB Christmas Wreaths

I look forward to getting my Pottery Barn catalogs and obsessing over every picture and figure out how I can make my house look like them for cheap little money!

The Christmas catalog was no exception..... especially this one:

It makes me sigh..........

Anyhow, I want to copy some of this in my own home and my first step is the wreaths.

I gathered my supplies:

2 basic wreaths
Various balls in silver and red (I got mine at the TARGET dollar spot)
Hot glue gun

I'm sure the rest is pretty obvious!

Please excuse the horrible pictures! I was too excited to wait and I took them at 9:30 pm with my terrible camera!

Olivia's tooth

Olivia lost her first tooth ~ November 19, 2010

To celebrate we made brownies!

Bathroom Cabinets

After almost 5 years of thinking about it, I finally found the courage to paint the bathroom cabinets in the girls' bathroom. They were fine before, just kind of blah......

I was so scared but I just did it! I primed with KILZ primer and painted in an off-white satin color from ACE. I also added some cute crystal knobs.

I'm a little afraid of the finish holding up in a children's bathroom, so I may seal it somehow..... i'll have to look into that. I don't have a clue as to what I should use for that. But I love how it looks.
